| I read something in the paper about him how a guy called Willie Barnes was the most rebellious, coach hating, practice missing basketball player of all times. It was hilarious! He once made one of the equipment managers wax his car or he threatened not to play!!! He played in the 1970s I believe. Now thats a man ahead of his time. He makes Dennis Rodman look like the Dahli Lama! Does anyone know where I can find out some more hi-jinx of my now favorite athlete Willie "Bad News" Barnes? Internet sites or stuff? | Re: Anyone Ever Hear Of Willie "Bad News" Barnes? It was Marvin Barnes, a great post player out of Providence College in the early 70s. He went to the ABA Spirit of St. Louis, where he was always in trouble. He attacked a teammate at PC with a tire iron; his nickname for awhile was Tire Iron Barnes. But he was a great player when he was focused.

| Re: Anyone Ever Hear Of Willie "Bad News" Barnes? Marvin Barnes and Ernie DiGregorio led Providence to the 1973 Final Four, where Barnes hurt his knee in a semifinal game, costing PC a shot at Bill Walton and UCLA for the title. |
