| Has the NBA Let The Cat Out of the Bag? Since there's no forum yet for the new OKC team, I thought I'd post this here... Nothing has officially been announced by Clay Bennett as to the new OKC team's name, nor have there been any press releases to the local news media. But if you go to the NBA's site you'll find this... http://www.nba.com/schedules/?team=thunder Looks like the NBA stole Clay's thunder (sorry, couldn't resist) |

| Re: Has the NBA Let The Cat Out of the Bag? Probably going to just rename the Sonics forum to reflect the new OKC team name, which if this is right, is going to be the Thunder. You're right... looks like someone at the NBA let it slip. Unless all six of the names that are finalists lead you to the same page.

| Re: Has the NBA Let The Cat Out of the Bag? Well, looks like the NBA site has changed that page. Now when you click on the link I posted, you get a different look with no schedule or name. If you choose "Oklahoma City" in the "By Team" drop down list, you get the schedule, but Thunder has been removed. It used to say Oklahoma City Thunder Schedule. The local newspaper is reporting it like this: "The NBA’s Web site all but confirmed Thunder would be the nickname of Oklahoma City’s NBA team on Wednesday morning — by Wednesday afternoon, the evidence was gone. When the league released its schedule on Wednesday, the NBA web site linked to a page that listed the “Oklahoma City Thunder schedule” and clicking on any of the Oklahoma City’s 82 games took you to the url - www.nba.com/thunder. By Wednesday afternoon, the word Thunder was nowhere to be found on the Oklahoma City schedule page and all of the links pointed to www.nba.com/oklahomacity." Hmm...looks like somebody told the NBA site to take the name off. Wonder what that's all about? |
