Re: All Time Greatest Team (Foreign Born)

Former Laker Mychael Thompson was born in the Caribbean somewhere; not a bad player. The Spurs Manu Ginoblli deserves mentioning also.

Thompson strong together a decent career...Ginoblli has potential but is still too early to call...

Cool Re: All Time Greatest Team (Foreign Born)

What about Drazen Petrovic? He was really starting to become a star when his life was tragically cut short.

I'll spot you a Petrovic and raise you a Detlef Schrempf who played over 1,100 NBA games and was an excellent all around player...he could hit the three, pass, rebound...nice coming off the bench too.

Tony Parker and Pedrag Stoyakovic also deserve consideration. Kobe Bryant was born and mostly raised in Italy so technically he could be on the list also. Dekembe Mutumbo also could be on the list.

Re: All Time Greatest Team (Foreign Born)

he may not be an all time great

but Toni Kukoc would atleast be great off the bench for the Foreign team

he was pretty good in his prime

Good one Gotham. I forgot about Schrempf. Mutombo is good also. Stoyo has to be there. But I would put Rick Smits in there before Dekembe. Sabonis also warrants consideration.

Yeah, love Mutombo, if it wasn't for Hakeem the Dream, I would say Mutombo would start in the middle...

Maute Bol anyone (as a defense specialist)?

Cool Re: All Time Greatest Team (Foreign Born)

How about Frederick Weis, the 8th overall pick by the Knicks a few years ago when they passed on Artest. A Scott Layden move.

Re: All Time Greatest Team (Foreign Born)

I have made a list of the top current NBA International stars who deserve honorable mention. Here are some suggestions:

--Manu Ginobili (He is just a great NBA super-star)
--Andrew Bogut (In the works, but with a future)
--Jamaal Magloire (Not bad, Not Good)
--Steve Nash (Repeating NBA MVP)
--Nene (I like his short name)
--Yao Ming (I'm not a big fan of him...but he is a great center)
--Dikembe Mutombo (Was good a long time ago...from '92 to maybe '01)
--Toni Kukoc (Had his best days with MJ on the Bulls)
--Boris Diaw (Unstoppable in the Playoffs)
--Tony Parker (He's french. Ooh La La! One of the best PGs in the NBA)
--Dirk Nowitzki (Need I say more?)
--Andrei Kirilenko (All-Star, plus I saw him at the NBA Store!)
--DeSagana Diop (Good performance in Playoffs, but you can forget about him now)
--Predrag Stojakovic (Three me!)
--Pau Gasol (Young, but good)
--Tim Duncan (The International version of Shaq)
--Raja Bell (All over the news lately)

How can we forget Ming...Kirlenko is a defense of stopper, he blocks a zillion shots...Diaw is growing on me but I need to see more...Gasol I really like, but he is a bit soft...jury is out on Bogut
