| Candace Parker Might Be Better Than 80% of the Knicks and Heat Combined ![]() Candace Parker is no joke. Anyone that plays through a dislocated shoulder is pretty hoss in my book, so I was kind of intrigued by what Parker would do on a professional scale, even if it is the WNBA. In her professional debut on Saturday, Parker scored 34 points on 12 of 19 shooting for the Los Angeles Sparks in a 99-94 win over the Phoenix Mercury . She also added, and try and follow along, folks, 12 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, and a block. Did I mention she's still wearing a brace on her shoulder? Of course the criticism is going to come. "But she did it against girls." However, let me pose this quandry for you. Who would you rather have on your squad? Stephon Marbury or Candace Parker? | Re: Candace Parker Might Be Better Than 80% of the Knicks and Heat Combined Yeah, I agree completely here. I said last year that I thought she was the best college basketball player in America, regardless of gender. If anyone can finally put the WNBA on the map in terms on ratings, it's Parker. She is a legitimate star who probably could well hold her own in the NBA against the guys, and I hope people pay attention because basketball players like this don't come along very often. Think about it: she was two assists away from a triple-double. In her first professional game. With a dislocated shoulder. Wow.

| Re: Candace Parker Might Be Better Than 80% of the Knicks and Heat Combined Nobody can help the WNBA ratings. That's just the way it is. And let's not get carried away here. The 12th men on any NBA bench would absolutely demolish someone like Parker on the court. |

| Re: Candace Parker Might Be Better Than 80% of the Knicks and Heat Combined Yes I have. She is an exceptional talent for a woman. But physically she is no match for a male counterpart. And I am as far from a sexist as you can get. That's simply reality in a sport like basketball. |
