| slurping i dont wanna seem like im going overboard here but i gotta get if off my chest. i didnt have anything to do today so i just sat around and watched movies i seen like a million times already. so i decided to watch jim rome is burning. and guess who was filling in for jim rome. only the biggest kobe groupie of all , ms. jemele hill. every time, and i mean LITERALLY EVERY time i see her on tv, no matter what the subject, she has to somehow some way, slip in the absurd idea that kobe is better than mj23. and it made me notice how insignificant kobe's accomplishments really are. every time they show him blocking a shot its against the clippers or some doormat team. everytime he's seen going buck wild and dominating, its against one of the leagues bottom feeders. so in that case is it really dominating? mj played his best against his BEST opponents when it mattered. kobe plays his best against sorry teams. when he plays against formidable opponents, he's just another player.take his most recent finals appearence for example, tayshaun prince shut him down relatively easily. personally, i think lamar odom is more important to the lakers than kobe. does anyone else notice this? this league (and media) wide obsession with kobe? are we really that desperate to find another michael jordan? cant we just realize that there never will be and enjoy the game for what it is? or am i the only one who sees it like this?

| Re: slurping The NBA is a star-dominated league, and Kobe is a talented player who plays in one of the biggest markets in the world. I guess it's only natural that he should be endlessly hyped, although he's proven in the post-Shaq era that he can't carry a team on his own. And yeah, that 'next Michael Jordan' thing is so played out. They've always been looking for 'The Next' - the next MJ, the next Magic, the next Larry Legend, the next Bill Russell or Wilt Chamberlain. All sports are guilty of that kind of stuff. How many times in football have people been dubbed the next Lawrence Taylor, the next Jerry Rice, etc. ???
