michael or kobe? no last names needed. its a familiar arguement. yet it makes people want to choke eachother. simple question. its not like t-mac vs carter or wilt vs. doctor j. nope. these 2 play the same position. and of all the "next michael jordans" kobe seems to be the only one living up to it with lebron being second and t-mac bein 3rd (too bad vince carter lost his hops). phil jackson is repeatedly asked tihs question and somehow manages to keep us guessing. personally i think its his airness: 1. he made me a bulls fan when i was younger and i cant wait to see another title in michaels house (as long as they dont play the suns) 2. clutch. in eery sense of teh word. he learned from phil abot zen and how to remain in teh moment and not worry about the past or future, just hte right now. so when that big moment did come he wouldnt force anything, the gaeme (and victory) would naturally come to him. when teh clock was running out, everyone from here to mars knew that MJ would have the ball and guess what-he still couldnt be stopped. all the kobe bryant game winners i've seen have come in a losing series or teh regular season. all mj's, in teh playoffs and finals (including teh one that won #6).MJ was unstoppable in teh playoffs. kobe gets SHUTDOWN by tayshaun prince. 3. additude. yea kobe wanted to be traded at the beginning of the season. but people forget that he asked to be traded to LA in the first place cuz charlotte wasnt a winning team. kobe would rather be placed in a winning situation than try to create one. MJ didnt complain at all. never asked to be traded. you could say MJ was a ball hog but he wasnt. noone was good enough to play with him. til they drafted pippen. MJ was able to help mold him into a winner. o and lets not forget that MJ gave THE isiah thomas and the bad boys all they could handle all by himself (before pippen came). when the time came for kobe to put the team on his back he asks to be traded. when jordan was asked to do teh same wat happened? i dont even need to answer that one 4.team. MJ was teh mvp of ever finals he played in. he never had a dominant big man but played against many like thompson, ewing, young shaq, olajuwon (all time leading shot blocker. and they all received facials from MJ, on a regular basis. shaq was the mvp of those lakers title teams. 5.ability. lets be honest. kobe has a flawless stroke on his jumper. i've NEVER seen such a pure stroke (maybe reggie miller or larry bird). and thats where it ends. michael's juper wasnt as pure but we all know that it ALWAYS went in when i needed to, cant say that much for kobe. noone, and i mean NOONE had hops like MJ. not even vince carter before the knee surgeries. and lets not even get started on MJ's tenacious defense. just look at the last 2 minutes of his last finals against utah. teh most clutch series of plays i've ever seen.ever.ever.ever. now i know kobe fans (i dont mean that to be insulting) will quickly point to the 81 point game. great. that was against a horrible team. they will say"MJ never had to play against anybody good" well i guess they are right. isiah thomas was a scrub, ewing sucked to huh?how did that larry bird guy even get drafted? and magic johnson? he calls himself a point guard? haha. reggie miller wasnt jack either huh? hakeem olajuwon actually had the nerve to call himself a center. john stockton and karl malone? who teh hell were they? young jason kidd? pft right. my grandma could beat him. dennis rodman (while with the pistons) actually called himself a professional.sean kemp? who the hell was he? young shaq? watever. charles barkley? that scrub. clyde drexler and dominuwue wilkins? who the hell were they? haha get serious. MJ was so good he STOPPED getting teh mvp. so other people would have a chance to get it. look at how many people quit watching teh nba since MJ retired. even jerry west agrees (and countless other legends). i think jerry west knows a lil bit about hoops but wat do yall think?

Re: michael or kobe? Well I 'm not three times older but I just said "IF". My point is Michael is better than Kobe

Re: michael or kobe? I'd bet that Mikey could still give Kobe a run for his money !!! Probably not beat him but he'd know he was being guarded and shot against.

Re: michael or kobe? kobe would have to rely on that jumper (that never shows up in big moments) ciz M is the master of drawing a charge. but if MJ in his prime faced kobe in his prime..........wow.....kobe would think he was at harvard teh way he would get schooled. i'd love to see MJ facialize kobe. jordan's repitoir of moves was so vast that kobe bryant's eyes would spin.

| Re: michael or kobe? I also think Jordan was a lot better, but he was better than just about everybody that played the game. I think the biggest diffference to me is it looks like Kobe is playing a game he was taught to play. Jordan looked like he was making moves up as he went along. That is why it was so tough to guard him. I think Kobe is a great player on his way to the HOF, but they may make a wing for Jordan.
