Re: Will either team try to win? This is the problem with the 3 division winners automatically getting the top seeds. Dallas is 16 games ahead of Denver but seeded below them? That just isn't right. In a perfect world the seeds would be: San Antonio Dallas Phoenix Memphis LA Clippers LA Lakers Denver Sacramento I absolutly think the division winners should all be in the playoffs regardless but they should be seeded according to their overall record.

Re: Will either team try to win? Its a CONFERENCE thing, not a division thing. Please lets leave baseball out of this. Baseball almost screwed up the holy of holy division championships with their wild card. Basketball is not Baseball OK! And the NBA is not the MLB.

Re: Will either team try to win? Clearly, The Clippers didn't try nor should they have. This is the leagues rule, not theirs. You cannot fault them for taking advantage of it by losing. If I was Dunleavy I would have been pulling people out of the stands.

Stern should have declared the winner gets the higher seed. He could have done it in the "best interests of the game." Otherwise, the NBA should switch to rankings as Dr. Cool says. Pete B: What am I missing? Who mentioned baseball?
