Re: NBA MVP Candidates

Okay, can we just do ballots? List say, your top five and then we can total them up in 5-4-3-2-1 fashion...?

Mine:

1. Kobe. Hate to admit, hate to freaking admit it...

2. Brand. He carries the Clippers, but Sammy Cassell is the real difference-maker.

3. Dirk. He kinda sorta plays D now, and it's funny to see him ruling the court in the NBA like he did last summer in the European national tournament.

4. LeBron. Somebody was talking about Kobe playing 1-on-5 basketball... what about LeBron? Is he given leeway here while his team is just about as bad as Kobe's?

5. Nash. Yes, he's exciting and yes he's running an explosive Suns team that harkens back to the years of Sir Charles. But read it again: He Doesn't, Play, D. Period. You can't give the MVP to a non-defender. O wait, he got it last year...

Wow -- who doesn't make the ballot? Dwayne Wade, Chauncey Billups, Pierce, AI, Carmelo...tight year in the race this year.

Cheers, all.

Re: NBA MVP Candidates

Sounds good to me:

1. LeBron James
2. Allen Iverson
3. Kobe Bryant
4. Elton Brand
5. Gilbert Arenas

Let's also try and keep a running tally of the overall standings:

1. Kobe Bryant (8 pts)
2. LeBron James (7 pts)
3. Elton Brand (6 pts)
4. Allen Iverson (4 pts)
5. Dirk Nowitski (3 pts)
t6. Steve Nash (1 pt)
t6. Gilbert Arenas (1 pt)

Voted: Wizard of Os, Lefty Noob

Pretty sure everyone's got the concept, but just in case:
A 1st place vote is 5 points, 2nd place is 4, and so on down to 1 point for 5th place.

Re: NBA MVP Candidates

Thus far then, the GoMVPGo race looks like so:

1. Kobe (12.5 points)
2. King James (10)
t3. Brand (6)
t3. AI (6)
5. Steve Nash (5.5)
6. Dirk (3)
t7. Arenas (1)
t7. new entry Paul Pierce (1)

Now wait a minute, where are all of King James' men i read from in this forum before? And where are all the Branded? Your guy has six points and is tied with an illustrated man who couldn't get his five into the playoffs...

Can't wait to see how this one all shakes out...

Cheers!

Actually, Billups should have 2 points for a 4th place vote.

Re: NBA MVP Candidates

But as I stress over and over again...He carried his team to the playoffs!

The only other players like that are Kobe and others (who deserve to remain anonymous due to their lack of skill)

Re: NBA MVP Candidates

Actually, the totals stand at:

Lebron: 19
Kobe: 17.5
Brand:11
A.I.: 9
Nash: 7.5
Nowitzki:7
Billups: 2
Arenas, Pierce: 1 each

Strange group here...AI is beating out Dirk? What is Iverson, the 1972 Steve Carlton of the NBA? Or is this just residual sympathy for the man who gave his all during the Olympics when his team couldn't pull their heads out of their a----?

Cheers, all.

Wow, this may actually end up resembling the real-life tally, though i think Dirk will finish ahead of Brand...

Anyone else to vote? When should we cap this thing?

Give it another day or two, Os. I'm hoping we can get a few more voters.

Cool Re: NBA MVP Candidates

Speaking of AI - how about he and Webber showing up late to a game because they felt like it. This is all you need to know about AI, why I would never vote for him for an MVP award.
