Cool Any ABA fans out there?

I was watching The Nets streak come to an end today and they were wearing their old ABA uniforms. It brought back some great memories. Growing up as a kid on LI, I went to a lot of Nets game in the 70's. This is when Dr. J was in his prime. Their lineup was:
G: Brian Taylor,
G: Super John Williamson,
C: Billy Paultz
F: Dr. J
F: Larry Kenon
Bench players: Wendell Ladner, Al Skinner (BC coach)
Coach was Kevin Loughery. Assistant Rod Thorn (now GM of the Nets)...Classic teams. Once the Nets sold Dr. J to Philly and then moved a year later, I totally lost interest in them and stuck with the Knicks.

Anyone remember some of the other teams and stars?

Billy Cunningham of the Carolina Cougars who then moved to St. Louis who had Marvin Barnes.
Maurice Lucas and Dan Issel on Kentucky.
Mel Daniels, Darnell Hillman (Dr. Fro) of Indiana, and
George Gervin of San Antonio....Great league. It paved the way for today's 3 point shot.

Pundit my man, we can certainly talk Red,White and Blue Ball all day long my man!...That's my favorite league of all times...I remember man-child Marvin "Bad news" Barnes...scored at a 24 points a night clip as a rookie...

And Kentucky not only had Issel (one of my favorites) but also Artis Gilmore...

And Louie Dampier, Ralph Simpson, Don Buse, Keller, Calvin Mack...all missing from your list...lets sit and talk a while about this...

BTW, the Nets were my team...and Wendall Ladner was a character...

Heck, were is Billy Knight, and George McGiness?...Gervin was joined by Silas in San Antonio...

Rick Barry has a nice year or two for the Nets...I think he hit 34.0 PPG one season...

And look up Spencer Haywood...1600 boards one year...

Cool Re: Any ABA fans out there?

My first NY Net game ever was when Rick Barry was on the team in 1971- 1972. I was only 7 or 8 so I don't remember Barry that well. I do remember my dad pointing out that he shot foul shots underhanded. Lou Carnasecca was the coach. But then they both left and shortly thereafter the Nets got Dr. J.

Talking about Wendell Ladner: I was at a game when Wendell Ladner started a fight with Artis Gilmore. There was some sort of scuffle at mid court and Gilmore was laying on the floor. Ladner takes a running jump and lands right on Gilmore and all hell broke loose.

Gotham and whomever else is into the ABA; Check this site out: It has EVERYTHING you wanted to know about it....Year by Year rosters, stories, and every uniform and warm up the team ever had: I actually printed out a lot of this stuff so I can read it like a book from time to time:
