G: Brian Taylor,
G: Super John Williamson,
C: Billy Paultz
F: Dr. J
F: Larry Kenon
Bench players: Wendell Ladner, Al Skinner (BC coach)
Coach was Kevin Loughery. Assistant Rod Thorn (now GM of the Nets)...Classic teams. Once the Nets sold Dr. J to Philly and then moved a year later, I totally lost interest in them and stuck with the Knicks.
Anyone remember some of the other teams and stars?
Billy Cunningham of the Carolina Cougars who then moved to St. Louis who had Marvin Barnes.
Maurice Lucas and Dan Issel on Kentucky.
Mel Daniels, Darnell Hillman (Dr. Fro) of Indiana, and
George Gervin of San Antonio....Great league. It paved the way for today's 3 point shot. |
Pundit my man, we can certainly talk Red,White and Blue Ball all day long my man!...That's my favorite league of all times...I remember man-child Marvin "Bad news" Barnes...scored at a 24 points a night clip as a rookie...
And Kentucky not only had Issel (one of my favorites) but also Artis Gilmore...
And Louie Dampier, Ralph Simpson, Don Buse, Keller, Calvin Mack...all missing from your list...lets sit and talk a while about this...
BTW, the Nets were my team...and Wendall Ladner was a character...
Heck, were is Billy Knight, and George McGiness?...Gervin was joined by Silas in San Antonio...
Rick Barry has a nice year or two for the Nets...I think he hit 34.0 PPG one season...
And look up Spencer Haywood...1600 boards one year...
