Best Jump Shot in NBA

There's a good book put there that shows how Ray Allen shoots his jump shot.

Re: Ray Allen's Jump Shot

You can just watch some tape and see his nice looking jump shot.

Still crystal clear like always.

Re: Ray Allen's Jump Shot

Yeah, but is Allen's jump shot the best in the NBA? Who would you say has the sweetest shot in the game today?

Cool Re: Ray Allen's Jump Shot

I would say Allen.

But the best I've ever seen in the history of the league is Jeff Malone. His fundamentals were perfect.

Re: Ray Allen's Jump Shot

I've always loved Ray Allen's shot.

Allan Houston had impeccable motion, as well.

Marc, I'm surprised... you seem to be a big Kobe fan, so I expected to hear his name in there somewhere.

Re: Ray Allen's Jump Shot

Houston's shot was amazing for a pull up shot but the guy barely could move. Guess that's why Sprewell and Houston complemented each other so well.

Not everyone in the NBA can move and create his own shot...give me the guy that can create a shot over the text book jumper anyday...

Speaking of which anyone remember Bob McAdoo?...some one once described his jumper as looking like "a short person trying to shove a pizza into a very tall oven"...that cracked me up...but hey, the guy got three scoring titles...

There is a place in the game for guys who can't create their own shot. It takes pressure off of other guys who get double and triple teamed in the middle. Reggie Miller really couldn't create his own shot. He simply came off screens.

I loved McAdoo. He made 2 of the most pressure free throws I've ever seen. In a playoff game, when he was on the Buffalo Braves, he had to make 2 shots with time expired to send the game in OT. Security was nothing like it was today, and some fans got down and shook the basket. He drained the 2 free throws with the basket shaking.

Campy Russell was another guy who had an unorthodox shot but could really drain it.

I would love to see footage of that

nothing against Reggie...I personal suck at creating my own shot...my brothers on the other hand are three of quickest guys I have ever seen on a basketball court, their array of shot selection is awesome...guess I envy the guys that can create their own shot...

Re: Best Jump Shot in NBA

I can't believe Rip Hamilton hasn't been mentioned yet. His game thrives on the 18-footer, his penetration skills would be for naught if he couldn't get defenders to bite so easily on a pump fake. The guy drop 20 a game at 6' with mediocre ball handling skills, he is utterly dependent on an lethal jumper and judging by his production, I'd conclude he is quite effective.

Re: Best Jump Shot in NBA

In my opinion, Richard Hamilton is definitely at the top of his game. However, Ray Allen is a sensational shooter, with a perfect release. His prominent shooting skills cannot compare to any other sharp-shooters inthe NBA, especially Dirk Nowitzki. Contrary to the common thoughts, he is not an incredible shooter.
