Speaking of which anyone remember Bob McAdoo?...some one once described his jumper as looking like "a short person trying to shove a pizza into a very tall oven"...that cracked me up...but hey, the guy got three scoring titles... |
There is a place in the game for guys who can't create their own shot. It takes pressure off of other guys who get double and triple teamed in the middle. Reggie Miller really couldn't create his own shot. He simply came off screens.
I loved McAdoo. He made 2 of the most pressure free throws I've ever seen. In a playoff game, when he was on the Buffalo Braves, he had to make 2 shots with time expired to send the game in OT. Security was nothing like it was today, and some fans got down and shook the basket. He drained the 2 free throws with the basket shaking.
Campy Russell was another guy who had an unorthodox shot but could really drain it.
