Nowitzki & Robinson

What's going on, have we landed in the "Mirror, Mirror" universe from Star Trek or something? We've got 7-footer Dirk Nowitzki winning the 3-point competition (softest shooting big man ever?) in the same year that 5-9 rookie Nate Robinson became second shortest player to ever win the Slam Dunk contest! It's madness, I tell you, madness!

I will tell you what is madness...

that dunk contest. Why in the world did Robinson get 5, 6, and 7 chances to complete some of those dunks. In my opinion it took all of the luster off of the contest. Did anyone else feel this way?

Cool These contests have become boring

To me, the dunk contest has worn itself out. It was great when it first started but now its tough to watch. The 3 point shooting contest is boring also.

I don't know how many remember or are even old enough to remember but in the 1970's, they had an NBA HORSE contest that was taped before the season started and they aired one game at a time, every week at halftime of the CBS Sunday Game. In the finals. Pete Maravich beat Paul Westphal. Maravich made all kinds of crazy shots sitting on the floor,etc...The NBA should do something like that instead of the usual monotonous stuff.

Or better yet, how about a game of dodge ball? Tell me that wouldn't get a huge rating.

HAHA...well I agree anything that would be a change from the norm would help to keep things exciting. The dunk contest last night did it for me. The length of time, and the number of dunks allowed was absurd. The NBA needs to change All Star Weekend before it comes to the point that nobody is interested.

You're not alone. When a flashy dunk takes 15 tries before it works, it really isn't all that exciting.

And, of course, I might be biased, but Andre Igudala was completely robbed.
