Hornets and David West Agree to $45 Million Forward David West and the New Orleans Hornets have agreed on a new contract, rumored to be worth about $45 Million over five years beginning next season. According to NewsOK, the deal includes a clause which can allow West the chance to opt out after the 2010-2011 season. The opt-out clause would give West the opportunity to really cash in on the free agent market if he see's an opportunity...in the prime of his career. West is a good young player and led the team in boards last year. Led by Chris Paul at the point, the Hornets should improve this season.

Re: Hornets and David West Agree to $45 Million Obviously some change has been made since wilt's day. Were he around Now he would be a max contract guy also. $45 million is way to much for west. I bet Chandler out performs him by the end of the year.

$9 million may be a bit much for 17 pts. and 8 rebs. may be a bit much but as he is still only 26 I don't think that we are yet to see his ceiling. Hope he got his agent a nice Christmas present!
