| Re: Major League Baseball 40 - 40 Club * Please Simon...I know the 40/40...I know the 30/30 club...and the 30/50, 20/ 50, 20/80.. etc... etc...etc... first of all, its a Club not a record, so what exactly are you going to give an * too? Unless baseball bans them and recants on all the seasons before Jose made the Club, the stats stay on the books. If the stats are on te book they are all members of the Club...and since its not an offical record tracked by baseball, there is not need for the *...

| Re: Major League Baseball 40 - 40 Club * Anytime there is proof that could lead to an asterisk there should be some type of penalty but since virtually none of the modern day records will never see the asterisk why question it on a club ? |

| Re: Major League Baseball 40 - 40 Club * Even if Bonds used Roids, there was no way he was doing it in '96. It wasn't until 1999 that he got freakishly huge. Besides, being on steroids would inhibit someone's ability to steal bases. It harms the joints--not to mention the sheer muscle mass.

Anyway, best season I ever saw was Eric Davis at 37 homer and 50 steals in a 129 game season, in 1987...now he should have juiced given that he missed so many games with injuries...back then though...in 1987...the excuse was, "The ball was juiced that year"...Sports Illustrated proved it by taken measurements on the balls that year compare to past years... There is always an excuse... |

"Mr. 30-30" sure was...1973 the dude goes 39-43...then he comes back in in 1977 and goes 37-41...5 seasons of 30-30 in all...back when it wasn't easy hitting a lot of dingers... Also underrated and never mentioned is Ron Gant...back to back 30-30's in 1990 and 1991...and seem to flirt with it from time to time... |
