These thirteen year olds weigh more than I did when I was 13. As simplesimon said, I hope that this isn't the same kind of scandal that smacked the Little League five or so years ago. He really is a monster!

The most amazing thing about this whole story is that anyone believes that Julio Franco is only 47.

He looks older than he is. But he is in great shape to still be playing baseball at his. His skills haven't diminished, but to tell you the truth--he didn't have that many to start with. He remains the decent hitter that he was ten or twenty years ago.

I stand corrected. I didn't read the article.
However, watching past LL games, I noticed the kids were all very big for their age. Some were like 5'7" or something.

To tell you the truth, I don't believe these kids are only thirteen or fourteen years old. Either their parents are Yetis, or they are just too big to be the age they say. For all we know, they could be acting like Orlando Hernandez. Hernandez, who escaped from Cuba, came to the United States and guessed his age for legal papers. He could be 40-years old or 53.

The kids participating in the LLWS do look as if they are too old to play. What gets me is the kids (primarily pitchers) who have side burns and goatees.
