Home Run Record

Papi is on a hell of a tear, seems he could threaten the Single Season Home Run Record

but just how many does he have to hit ?

62 ? 71? 74?

personally id be happy calling him the record holder if he hit 62 or more

Re: Home Run Record

Albeit McGwire, Sosa and Bonds did it with roids. Anybody must hit more than Bonds to be considered the new Home Run regular season king.

Alleged Steroids...Innocent until proven guilty...kinda one of the founding principals of the country...and no asterisks have been issued either by "Mr. I turned the other way " Bud Selig

Re: Home Run Record

Ryan Howard's gonna break it one of these days boys. In only his second Major league season, he's got 49 with a month to go.

Playing in that small ballpark surely will help him in the future. Routine pop-ups in other ballparks fly out at Citizens Bank.

Re: Home Run Record

Hopefully, he won't be traded away to play in another ballpark anytime soon. I am sure that his value doubled this year and he will turn into an Albert Pujols type player who is set in one ballpark under one team.

Re: Home Run Record

Ryan Howard is a monster. The Phillies were smart to make room for him by getting rid of Jim Thome.

The thing is...we love him now...how long before we cut into him like Sosa, McGwire, Bonds?...how long before his bat spped is down...and he needs an artificial boost?...or gets tired of the media chasing him and lashes out?

The one thing we love more than seeing a hero in the making...is seeing a hero stumble and fall...which is a shame...

Re: Home Run Record

Howard has already gone yard three times today, he'll have at least one more at bat. Howard has 52 homers on the year and 133 RBIs, leading the majors in both categories.

Lost in the noise is Pujols 3 homer day and A-Rod hit another 2...both of which are on my Fantasy Team...I would cheer a little loader if Howard was on my Fantasy Team...

Re: Home Run Record

Who is worth more this season: Albert Pujols or Ryan Howard?

Re: Home Run Record

Howard is worth more to the Phillies. They were waiving the white flag ( when they dumped Lidle and Abreu), but he's been carrying them on his back since then. Pujols doesn't do as much as Howard does for his team. Without Pujols, the Cards would still be in contention ( with Duncan, Rolens, Edmonds, Carpenter, and Isrenghausen)

Re: Home Run Record

With Pujols, the Cardinals would be a mediocre team. Period.
