| Who Will be Traded by Monday There are less than 40 hours until the trade deadline and rumors are at their juiciest right now. You have all the talk about Barry Zito, Miguel Tejada, Greg Maddux, Bobby Abreu, Alfonso Soriano, etc., etc. Who do you see actually being dealt by the deadline?
I see the following players switching uniforms either later today or Monday afternoon...
-Greg Maddux - He's of no use to the Cubs and I believe he's ready to be traded to a NL West Coast team who's in the midst of a playoff spot. Perhaps the Padres or Dodgers...probably one of them will acquire the vet righty.
-Aramis Ramirez - By all reports/rumors, he plans on opting out of his contract at the end of the year to enter free-agency. This leaves the Cubs in a tricky spot as like the Brewers, they won't want to lose such a big bat and receive nothing in return. With that said, I see him being dealt for some very good to great young position players.
-Miguel Tejada - In what I expect to be the biggest move of this year's deadline, Tejada will be dealt by the Orioles to a contending team. I project him being dealt to the Reds of Cincinnati. GMs and Baseball Execs are said to have their doubts about Tejada for numerous reasons but you can't doubt his bat and glove.
And for the players who won't be moving, Barry Zito, Abreu and Lieber will most notably stay with their current ballclubs. Soriano is a 65-35 in favor of being dealt but I still think surprisingly, he could remain with the Nats. |
