Trashed Giving Baseball Another Chance!

Thats right folks you read it right! The ultimate nemesis of americas pastime has decided to return to the game or at least give it a try. Now the way I see it I have 2 options living in New York...Yankees or Mets. Which team has better prospects and has a brighter future and which team is headed for the playoffs this year in your predictions. I think im gonna go Mets cuz I dont think I ever forgave the Yankees for the 2004 ALCS but please help out a "new" baseball fan. Yankees or Mets?

Re: Trashed Giving Baseball Another Chance!

Well welcome back to the MLB bleachers, Trashed. If you want my nonbiased opinion as a long-suffering Pirates fan, it looks to me like the Mets are the better pick to root for long term. Wright's going to be a star for a long time and the team seems to be younger on the whole. Yanks are getting older and I'm not sure their minor league system is as stacked as the NL clubs at this point in time. Just one guy's opinion, though.

Thanx Lefty, I was thinking the same thing but I live in the Bronx but suprisingly youre seeing more and more Mets gear on everyone. I guess this town loves a winner! As I said I dont think I could ever forgive the Yanks for the 2004 ALCS anyway.

Re: Trashed Giving Baseball Another Chance!

Stay with the Yankees. I too had a hard time getting up everyday after Boston came back and beat the Yankees. But it was inevitable that they had to win one. I honestly thought it would not be in my lifetime, and I'm only 48! But even Walt Disney's version of Davy Crockett lost one, and it was a bad loss, the Alamo.
The Mets pitching is going to let them down in a big way, and if you jump on their ship, it will be like jumping off a listing Queen Mary and onto the Titanic. Then you will be forever lost to baseball. And that would be a shame, because it is by far the best of all the sports. Good luck with your decision.

Good points Leg. I like the Yankees cuz they play in the AL and were spared the indignity of watching the pitcher bat which is an automatic out and Hideki Matsui. Matsui makes a sliding try for a ball and breaks his arm then apologizes to everyone for letting them down! He apologized for trying to make a great play and coming up unlucky! It was unnecessary of course but it shows you the class and ethics this man possesses. If only more athletes had Matsui's attitude!!

Trashed: You have to stick with your teams. Stay with the Yankees.

If you're jumping from team to team, just choose an out-of-state team. Don't be a band wagon fan and abandon your team for losing a playoff series.

Ah! Might as well Pundit. I DO live in the Bronx and who wants to the see the 8th and 9th batters in a NL lineup get up at the plate anyway?

From the other side (Red Sox fan) the 19 games a year that we play is worth being a fan. Playoff baseball in May rules.

Re: Trashed Giving Baseball Another Chance!

I watched my first game coming back from vacation yesterday and the Yanks beat the Rays 4-2 and I DID enjoy it folks so Trashed has come back to Major League Baseball. Im just in time for Bobby Abrieu to join the team so I guess you can say were coming to the Yanks together. I dont intend on buying any Yankee shirts or jerseys cuz I dont buy shirts with writing on them anymore (George Carlin convinced me not to!) but my heart beneath my plain black shirt will beat for the Yankees. The game was slow at times yes but I look at it this way...there aint nothing else to watch on cable thats better! Who wants to watch "The Crocodile Hunter" for gods sake? Go Yanks!!!
