Re: BALCO founder might be source of leak

How do you "accidentally" reveal confidential information that could ruin someone's reputation?

This guy Conte is such a slimeball, it's a crime in itself that he's serving such a light sentence for his crimes.

Re: BALCO founder might be source of leak

And this news came a day after Conte's lawyers denied he was involved in the leak. Anyone else starting to get the feeling that this case is about to blow up big time, and decimate a sport or two in its wake? All I can say is the more I read, the deeper it seems to go, and the more this feeling of foreboding I have seems to strengthen...

Re: BALCO founder might be source of leak

This whole case is just such a huge mess. It is destroying professional sports and filling our minds with doubt. Before BALCO, we would never have suspected these athletes to be using performance-enhancing drugs. We thought they were incredible, amazing, and undoubtly immortal. But now with the suspicion of steroids, we will never truly know who is "juicing" and who is "organic".

Re: BALCO founder might be source of leak

Well, steroids had found their way into sports long before BALCO. All BALCO did was make it easier to obtain and easier to use without getting caught. Still, I for one never imagined that steroid and HGH abuse was quite as widespread as it appears to be. Suddently, Canseco and Caminiti's figures don't seem all that outlandish, do they?

Re: BALCO founder might be source of leak

Players have always looked for an advantage. In the 70s Pete Rose and his entire team as well as more than half of MLB players were known to be using greenies, another name for amphetemines. Steroids were also around back then, even high school players that I went to school with were juicing up, and I graduated class of 82. It should not surprise anyone that most professional athletes in all sports are looking for anything that may give them that extra little edge that could seperate them from everyone else. The potential to make millions only enhances the incentive for athletes to cheat.

Re: BALCO founder might be source of leak

I agree with you, desertrat.

However, BALCO's operations have truly exposed the steroids to the nation. Bud Selig and the US Supreme Court got involved in this scandal, and are enforcing the "Steroids are illegal" law they had for years. They also added on drug tests which look for certains drugs, but there are many others not to be found.

I'm not sure if you guys play video games at all, but have you ever played Blitz:The League? In that game's Franchise Mode, you can "juice" up your team. You can choose from select drugs to use, but they are all risky. If you get caught, you are in deep trouble. It is actually pretty realistic when you think about it nowadays!
