| Re: Nl Mvp Hold on there, MVB, before you start handing out the awards! You can't forget about the young athletes who are excellent fielders, and don't get a bunch of publicity. Some names to reconsider are Steve Finley, Juan Pierre, and Corey Sullivan. After you think about those quiet studs, then you may think about Andruw Jones. |

And, these guys have never won a gold glove, have been beaten by Andruw himself, and won't win this year. Plus, he's won the gold glove 7 out of the last 8 years. |

okay, so maybe he is worth a mention...He is probably going to be a force for sometime to come...he hit one into the 3rd deck yesterday...a 461 foot blast. His teammates went nuts. |

| Re: Nl Mvp Howard can definitely hit a fastball, but i think he has trouble with breaking pitches. He is also a butcher with the glove, having committed twice as many errors as any other first baseman in the game. |

| Re: Nl Mvp At this point in the season, David Wright would HAVE to be the NL MVP. Of course the writers despise NY and even with Beltran a candidate, his votes may get cut. Wright: .336/.402/.606, 18 HR, 64 RBI, 50 R, 33 BB, 11 SB, 19 2B, 74 G, 292 ABs Pujols: .313/.442/.741, 26 HR, 67 RBI, 55 R, 46 BB, 2 SB, 8 2B, 57 G, 201 ABs Of course, Pujols' power numbers are still ungodly at this point. |

| Re: Nl Mvp But, EmpireWF, the MVP award is usually given to the player with the most homeruns in the season. You must take into consideration that Pujols has missed a reasonable amount of games this season, so that will affect his statistics. David Wright is definitely a top contender along with Ryan Howard and many other players, but I think Pujols will get this award. By the way, I am sorry for the confusion. Steve Finley is actually much older than I expected. At 41 years old, he is performing extremely well for his age. I thought he was only about 35 years old! |

| Re: Nl Mvp I know how you feel about Finley...he's much older than you'd think he is. If the standings remain the way they are now in the NL (and there's no reason to believe otherwise), the contenders for NL MVP should be Pujols, Wright and Beltran. |

| Re: Nl Mvp I would like to say at last, that Carlos Beltran has finally adjusted to New York. Even missing some games this year, he still has excellent numbers. It is definitely a huge improvement from last year's horrible statistics. Best of all, he has hit 2 homers and 6 RBIs in his last seven games. If he keeps up, he will finish with 47 homeruns and 137 smashing-RBIs. It would be an unexpected surprise for baseball fans and a miracle for Mets' fans! |
