Arrow What Would It Take For You To Stop Watching Baseball?

Hold on gents! Im not here to insult baseball...thats too easy and could take weeks to complete. Im just here to ask the question of this thread. I stopped watching baseball because I believe its an immoral game of drug enhanced cheaters who make way too much money and have far too crappy attitudes towards the people who idolize them and pay their ridiculous salaries. Plus the game bores the piss out of me. But hey thats me and my opinion. No better or worse than anyones. I know there are loads of MLB fans out there, hell there are loads on here! But considering the strikes, drugs, racism, watering down of talent, arrests, overinflated salaries I was just wondering if none of these reasons would make you quit and again im not saying you should quit, im just asking what would be the straw that broke the camels back so to speak?

Re: What Would It Take For You To Stop Watching Baseball?

If the Yankees decided to quit playing, I'd probably stop watching baseball. But as long as there are decent guys like Jeter, Rivera, Mussina, etc... I'll continue to watch!

Re: What Would It Take For You To Stop Watching Baseball?

I love the game and so I'd watch any kind of baseball really. MLB would completely have to change the rules and just put out a terrible product for me to stop following them.

Re: What Would It Take For You To Stop Watching Baseball?

The rules are pretty much ignored or turned a blind eye to ala steroids and as for the terrible product? Try telling that to a small market franchise. See I noticed both of you gents are located in New York where baseball is taught as a religion practically but I was hoping for some fans outside of the New Yorks and Bostons. I was curious to hear some people from Baltimore, KC, Florida, Minnesota, etc. The people who's teams cant buy good players.

They could, their owners just don't want to.

*Didn't know the Mets "bought" the likes of Lastings Milledge, Jose Reyes and David Wright. They traded good prospects for Delgado, Lo Duca, Sanchez. They "bought" Pedro, Wagner, Beltran and Floyd. It takes a mixture of both, good use of money and a good developmental system to succeed in modern day baseball.

Re: What Would It Take For You To Stop Watching Baseball?

I will stop watching baseball when thugs, murderers, and rapists are not allowed to play football, when NBA players are all shown to be drug free, and when I can actually see the puck on my TV screen. In other words, NEVER!

Tell that to a Royals or Pirates fan Empire.

Once again, comments from the tri-state area. Good comments indeed, I especially liked legend's post showing the flaws of other sports (despite the fact the NHL puck is quite easy to see considering its worldwide popularity, NFL "thugs" donate their time and money to numerous charities and the comment that NBA players must be drug free yet MLB players are fine taking 'roids, coke, amphetamines and god knows what else) but id like to hear from a fan away from this part of the country. Where are all the Florida guys? Cmon ya cant be at the beach all day!

Why ask Floridians? Of course their hearts aren't with baseball as it is with the college sports and the NFL.

Re: What Would It Take For You To Stop Watching Baseball?

No offense Empire but does it matter? Besides a New Yorker shouldnt answer that cuz their owners will spend $1,000,000,000 to get last years MVP so all is great and dandy with them. Maybe Floridians simply dont have 3 and half hours to spare every single night to watch a sport that is like golf but they run after they hit the ball. I dont either.

Re: What Would It Take For You To Stop Watching Baseball?

When they don't play baseball anymore, that would be the only time I stop watching. The players will come and go, but the game is still great no matter who is playing it.

Couldn't agree with you more, desertrat. MLB, college, minor league, prep, American Legion... you may not always like or care about the personalities involved, but baseball itself is the most pure and beautiful sport on the planet.

Re: What Would It Take For You To Stop Watching Baseball?

I dont see the beauty in Barry Bonds grotesque, steroid infested body and Jason Giambi's salary. I see beauty in a sunset or watching a hawk fly. Ill never see beauty in sports but in baseball all I see is pure sick and ugly. Is Dmitri Young beautiful too? I bet the players union will say he is!
