Okay, guys this is what I have to say about Ruth... I know the man was an amazing player and he pretty much built the Yankees into the dynasty they are now. Here is my gripe. I'm not being racist, but Ruth was a hor munger, very bad alcoholic, and another thing I forgot.
Now when it comes down to Barry Bonds and the steriods problem. People think its the end of the world. I know the world itsn't Black and White. When, it comes down to Ruth though and people say the things I said about him. They want to defend him to the end. When, it comes to Bonds people say he desreves it. It ☻☻☻☻es me off to no avail. Get mad I don't care. Thats how I think. I'm not being racist or using racial slurs or such. I'm just saying its unfair. Barry Bonds did this and that. That man didn't do anything. He passed every steroid test that he's taken... I mean how much more proof do you want, yet the court system wants him in prison. Over what?? Tell me something I don't know. I knew (excuse me) most die hard Ruth fanswas going to be mad at the fact that Bonds passed him. Thats when all of this BS about him on steriods popped-up. I knew they would be mad. I just knew it...

I seriously doubt the feds that are prosecuting Bonds are all big Ruth fans. But like I said before, Bonds should be playing somewhere this year. Baseball made lots of money off of his back and now they turn theirs on him.

Back in the day, the reporters protected the players, kept their indiscretions out of the public eye. Nowadays, they try to bury them more often than not, grab the sensational headlines. I'm not saying the Babe was a better or worse person than Bonds. Now Ty Cobb, there was the ultimate scumball. But even he to some degree was protected. They're just products of different eras, that's all.

First of all, Babe and Ty Cobb were despised by a lot of people when they retired initially. It took time for the public to soften on them and eventually people just starting looking at the stats. One day Bonds will probably be there, kind of like how we like a Pete Rose now. It's been said before on here and everywhere else though that Bonds was potentially cheating the game. The entire game. Babe Ruth being a man-slut, drinking beer, and eating 8 hot dogs during the game is basically what the fans of baseball do. I haven't seen too many fans taking drugs in the stands. Maybe one day old geezers will just laugh about Bonds the way that Boston fans laugh about Ted Williams now. Time works its magic on the publics eyes. who knows, though.

Nowadays if Babe Ruth and I think to a greater extent Ty Cobb pulled their antics in this YouTube/TMZ generation they'd be tossed from the game. Just look at what the media did to John Rocker for absolutely nothing but speaking his mind as silly as it seemed at the time. Now imagine racist Ty Cobb who once claimed he "pistol whipped a guy till he didn't have a face."
