SI Reveals Max; He Does Not Corroborate Jose Canseco's Claims

Last night, the New York Times reported the feds would ask Jose Canseco who this "Max" character was -- the dude in Jose's latest book he linked as a steroid supplier to Alex Rodriguez. The meeting is slated for Tuesday. However, according to Sports Illustrated, they've already tracked down "Max." His name? Joseph Dion.

And he's not buying what Canseco is selling.
"That's really, really funny because I am the one person that hates steroids," Dion said. "I'm against it 100 percent. And, A-Rod, at the time that I trained him -- and this I swear to God -- was 100 percent against steroids. He was one of the hardest working guys, and most natural guy, that I've met in my life. He hated steroids. We talked about it."

On Friday, Canseco returned a call from SI regarding Dion's claim but said, "Ask him to call me. I want to talk to him before I comment on it." An associate close to Canseco confirmed that Dion is "Max" in the book.

As long a humanly possible. He's Jose Canseco. If it's profitable and gets his name in the news, he's all for it!

This was the same criticism he faced during his last book. After everything that came out already, doesn't he at least get the benefit of the doubt. He is selling a book. Of course he wants to be in the limelight. It will sell more books. I will wait to judge him until everything settles. I will bet a lot of this book is true as well in the end.

Personally I like the guy......though the whole ratting things out is getting old...but hey, he was blackballed from baseball...maybe if MLB had been a stand up league about it and told him to his face he was not wanted while continuing to hide the actions of the Clemens and Bonds of the world he would have no ax to grind...baseball kept Bonds around for a shot at Aaron (where is Bonds now?!?)...and never gave Jose a shot at 500 homers...so yeah, he has an ax to grind...MLB created the monster...I am happy to see the monster attack MLB...Having said that, I think A-Rod is clean.

He was as washed up as last week's laundry when he left the game. In his mind he was blackballed.

I think a few teams could have used his bat...especially at 462 homers...he could have had two years at 18-20 homers for a team wanting a draw...like Boggs when he was chasing 3,000 hits etc...I think he was blacklisted
