Baseball statistics

Some interesting little factoids from a newsletter I subscribe to.

According to Major League Baseball, between five and six dozen baseballs are used in each game.

However, each home team is required to have 90 on hand for each game, just in case.

The average life span of a ball is six pitches, and an average of 275 pitches are thrown per game. By that math, using the number of teams in baseball and the number of games played, it's been determined that baseball uses approximately 114,000 baseballs each season.

I enjoy useless info like that. It's the type of stuff that shows up in trivia questions.

Lefty,

Looks like you have a little too much time on your hands. Interesting facts though, I'll use them for a bit of trivia.
