Perjury is a federal crime, why shouldn't Clemens?

Re: Jail or no jail

You break the law you go to jail, if people are using that logic for Kevin Faulk getting in trouble over a little grass then surely The Rocket should be put behind bars for lying under oath in a United States court of law!

Re: Jail or no jail

No jail. If a guy like OJ can stay out of jail, why send Clemens there for a victimless crime? If Robert Blake can shoot his wife and walk, why send Bonds for hitting a few more homers than the next guy? Jails are overcrowded enough without looking to send people there for piddly crap like this. And please, don't talk to me about lying to Congress when all they do is lie, lie, lie to the people to get elected.

This is not about steroids. This is about lying under oath before United States congress. If you let Clemens walk legend...I mean talk about setting a bad precedent!!! And yes OJ is most likely guilty and Congressmen lie but those are separate issues in which has nothing to do with this case whatsoever. This is about perjury and you're comparing it to political promises. OJ was found innocent dubious as it was and did those congressmen when they were campaigning to get elected lie under oath or just make a bunch of crappy promises? There's an enormous difference. You're insinuating that pro-athletes should get special treatment because of other injustices in the US system of government and that's really bad amigo. Should Clemens not go to jail because of the troops in Iraq there that so many disagree with? That's your logic and to me with all due respect is a huge cop out.

I voted no, but actually it should be yes. He should got to jail if he lied, but not for using HGH to begin with.

This is not about HGH or i'd agree with you. Steroids is one thing which to me is silly but if congress asks you if you took them or not you have to fess up of these are the consequences. This about perjury which is a federal offense and carries a jail sentence, that's a fact. Or should Roger Clemens be exempt from it because he's a professional athlete?

That is what I just said.

I voted no, but after reading more carefully that the post was about perjury, that my vote was wrong, and that he should go to jail for the perjury.

OK, do you think you can let it go now?? WOW. I must be living wrong. Now move on to something else. No need to be insulting towards me.

I already said that I misread it.
Damn...

If you have an issue with folks bringing up OJ, address them.

Actually I wasn't being insulting towards you, I was trying to make clear that I UNDERSTAND that you misread a part of the topic because you seemed offended in my post following yours but in any case i'm sorry you feel that I insulted you.

Well not to be political but does GWB strike you as the kind of guy too concerned with what's right and wrong?

Are parents, teachers, and a little sister more important than Congress?
