Re: Jail or no jail

And is it a federal law with consequences that clearly state that you will be sentenced to jail if you don't state the truth when we tell those lies to those other people? This is the real world amigo with real laws, the cold hard fact is that lying to your mom and dad is not as important as lying to congress because mom and dad can't toss you in the clink for lying.

Re: Jail or no jail

If he is found quilty of perjury, yes definitely he should go to jail.

Unfortunately, will he is a different story. That has happened before.

Re: Jail or no jail

Honestly i'd rather Clemens be found innocent than a presidential pardon. I mean this country's moral is low enough to have it's head pardoning a convicted liar at the highest level if Clemens is found guilty. One thing is for sure and even Clemens admitted this at the inquiry, his career is tainted whether he is found innocent or not.

Many people lie every day but the important part of this issue is that the penalty for perjury was known in advance. Lying to Mom is a morally incorrect choice and could land you in your room with no TV, but just isn't in the same category.

True LSC. You can debate the morality all you want but the fact is the law is the law and if the Rocket is found guilty of perjury then he is going to jail unless he gets a presidential pardon which would cement Bush's place as the worst president in american history.

I'm on your side with this issue. The penalty was known well in advance and if it is proven he lied .... then pack your toothbrush buddy.

Cool Re: Jail or no jail

If he's found guilty - yes - he should- like anybody else. Congress has really painted themselves into a corner. They never should have had that hearing. I mean, he lied about his use of steroids - big deal. Now they almost HAVE to prosecute. What a mess!

Never said anything about right or wrong...just said it would go that route.

By the way, when are you going to get onto the Patriots for not saying a word about the Kevin Faulk incident? I mean, a law and order guy should be quick to come down on his team like a ton of bricks.

That's a good point Pundit. Congress really walked into a quagmire with this one.

Back off cowpoke !!! Look at my posts in reference to Kevin. I have spoken my piece on how I feel about it. What he does off the clock has little to do with the team. Now if he were high or drunk on the playing field and they permitted it then yes they should be dinged.

Realistically if you work for "Large "X" Inc." and you get nailed for DUI, off the clock, they do not stick their noses into it. This scenario is no different.

Now if you want me to comment on his use of drugs, I'd be happy to expound on the subject !!!

If for Large X I am a public figure...you bet your booty it will have an impact...and might get my hand slapped. New England is looking the other way I's say...unless its a Player Association deal and their hands are tied...other than that...bad form.

Wrong! What he does off the field can have everything to do with the team. It can set the tone for the team if it goes out of control. Think Bengals. They are one of my favorite thug teams
Of course this scenario is different. He is running back for the New England Patriots. He is not Joe Smith working for the Microsoft Corp. in the mail room.

How do you know they are looking the other way? How do you know that he has not been called in to talk with Mr. Kraft?
