Pennant races are close Unlike last year, nobody is running away with their division this year. The Reds and Cardinals are tight in the Central. The Rockies have the Pads on their tail in the West. In the East the Mets have the biggest lead of all the divisions with two games over the Phils. In the AL the Yanks and the BoSox are neck and neck. The Tigers are within striking distance of the the White Sox. And in the West, the Rangers are only a game and a half over the A's. Its nice to see tight races, makes for a better run.

Re: Pennant races are close The Tigers are one of the biggest surprises this year. It is likely though that the Yankees will either win their division or a wildcard. I predict both the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox to make their way into the playoffs.

Re: Pennant races are close It appears that for the first time in (15 years?) the Braves will not win their division. The Mets and Phillies look like they will run away from the rest of the NL East. The NL West is wide open with all 5 teams in the mix thus far. The AL West has started out sort of weird with the Rangers on top at this point and everyone else below .500 including the 2 time defending AL West champion Angels. However, we are only in mid May with lots of baseball to still be played.

Re: Pennant races are close The Braves are catching up... they're only 6 games behind the Mets... 4 back of the Phillies. I hate close pennant races.... I want to see one or two teams being incredibly dominant every year. Like some divisions can be close ( NL East, AL East), but I like seeing some teams doing much better then all the others.

Re: Pennant races are close Of all these races I have a hard time seeing the Tigers keeping the White Sox within range. The Indians have no pitching, so I don't see them making a move. The Blue Jays, Red Sox and Yanks figure to jockey for position all year long, but Toronto has some big holes in their rotation that need to be plugged. Never, ever count out the Braves, as the Mets have been reeling lately and the Phillies needed to win 9 in a row just to stay in the thick of things. The NL West is anybody's, and I don't see the Reds staying around with the Cards much longer. The Rangers, Angels and A's will a good race. The A's have a terrible line-up, the Rangers have little pitching, and the Angels cannot get untracked.
