Hank Aaron looking to own MLB team?

If the Steinbrenners decide to sell the Yankees, or the Dolans bow to fan pressure and sell the Knicks, a consortium of buyers is ready. Hank Aaron, the true home-run champ who retired with 755 steroid-free homers, has joined with Mario Cuomo, Jack Kemp and taxi tycoon Andrew Murstein, the president of Medallion Financial. They just raised more than $200 million through an IPO for Sports Properties Acquisition Corp. The public company plans to buy a sports, leisure or entertainment business such as a sports team. The deal was oversubscribed despite a choppy market. The stock trades under the symbol HMR.U, which stands for home run. -- NY Post

Re: Hank Aaron looking to own MLB team?

If they were to theoretically buy the Yankees, they would need another 800 million to get into the discussion.

Cool Re: Hank Aaron looking to own MLB team?

If Hank is serious, he'd better step on it. He's not a young man. He turns 74 this week.

I think you may be right. $200 million isn't enough to buy any team anymore....maybe an american soccer team.
