Going Out In Style..

In the heat of passion, many crazed baseball fans have said they would die for a championship. But are they willing to take that devotion to the grave? With a new venture that will put Major League Baseball team logos on urns and caskets, the league and a company that makes funeral products will find out just how many fans want to be decked out in their team colors and logos for eternity.
Starting next season, fans of the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers will be able to have their ashes put in an urn or be lowered six feet under in a casket emblazoned with their team colors and insignia.
Major League Baseball has entered into a licensing agreement with Eternal Image, which hopes to eventually make urns and caskets for all 30 teams. The company also hopes to have similar agreements with NASCAR, the NHL and the NFL, but baseball was the first to sign on.
"We have been receiving these requests either directly or through our clubs for several years," said Susan Goodenow, an MLB spokeswoman. "Passionate fans express their love of their team in a number of different ways."

Wow, that's tasteless beyond believe. I can't believe anyone would want to be buried or have their remains stored in one of those.

No, if it was someone you didn't like, or if lifelong Red Sox fan Auntie Gertrude left you out of her will or something, and you were in charge of her funeral... I could see someone putting her in a Yankees casket. You know, as a final, eternal revenge?

Re: Going Out In Style..

I have been toying with the idea of being cremated and having my ashes spread at GABP. Is that a crazy idea??

Re: Going Out In Style..

i think if your a die hard fan and want to be sent into the next life in a casket or urn then why not. i dont like the idea of people making money off it though.

but the thought of having your ashes scattered across your favourite teams playing field is a nice idea, i mean if thats what you want...and the team know about it of course
