Goose Gossage is the ONLY player on the ballot to be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. He received 86% of the vote.

Jim Rice did NOT get the necessary votes. He fell 14 total votes short of the necessary amount to get in. Simply amazing.

Mark McGwire only received 128 votes, good for just 23.6%.

Do we really need a baseball writer to tell us who is a Hall of Famer? I certainly don't. I saw Rice all those years and as a Yankee fan saw what he did. He was the game's most feared hitter for much of his career. Tommy John should be in for a combination of his on-field stats and what his operation now means to the sport.

A new twist!...I like it!...Tommy John for his historic surgery....why the heck not!...it was pivital in baseball, was it not?

Compare Johns stats to Robin Roberts and throw out the fact that he did it after undergoing a revolutionary surgery-with no guidelines to go by that today's players that have Tommy John surgery have- and tell me how he cannot be in the Hall of Fame.

John stats look good...but I would place Blyleven over him...and "The Flying Dutchman" has all of 61% so far...but I have nothing against John making it.

And I think the surgery bit was good...I actually liked it...it was not sarcasm by any means.
