Roger Clemens, Does He Get Your HOF Vote?

Roger Clemens is now a known steroid and HGH abuser. The Mitchell Report says Clemens used steroids in 1998, 2000 and 2001.

Does he get your hall of fame vote with this new knowledge?

Jury's still out for me. I want to see more details. At what point in his career did he start taking them?

I think the answer might be, when batters around him gained 30 pounds of muscle and hit his pitches over centerfield...

Now that would be an interesting concept.

Interesting that in all this, no Sosa or McGuire on the list. Everyone into the Hall, no matter what they find. You cannot just say that a whole decade didn't occur.

The names on the list were named b/c of connections to:
-Balco
-Radomski
-Clemens' trainer

Unless someone dealt with either of the three, they weren't named. Doesn't mean much though since you best believe there are several other sources for steroids in the bigs.

Yeah, I guess so. Disappointing that steroid-era ballplayers will be mentioned alongside guys who were legit, though. Maybe they need to open a special wing for all the guys who juiced - keep them the hell away from the guys who, when they played, the most dangerous things they put in their body were hot dogs and beer.

Re: Roger Clemens, Does He Get Your HOF Vote?

I always thought Clemens was using at the end of his career...you just can't be that good that old, but how do we know how reliable the trainers testimony is. What do we know about him? A lawyer could have a field day with this, and I think they will soon.

Re: Roger Clemens, Does He Get Your HOF Vote?

The evidence against Clemens and Pettite comes minus a paper trail, so all they have to do is say the guy is disgruntled and looking for revenge and gave up his 2 biggest clients.

The steroids claim on Clemens goes back to beginning in 1998.
Consider this...

Total career Cy Young awards = 7
Cy Young awards before 1998 = 4
Cy Young awards since and including 1998 = 3

Total career wins = 354
Wins before 1998 = 233
Wins since and including 1998 = 121

Seems to me, if he was juicing, it didn't help his career stats allot. Looks like they went in the other direction.

Re: Roger Clemens, Does He Get Your HOF Vote?

Funny how if we had run this thread on Barry Bonds "before" the Mitchell report he would have not received the support Rocket Roger is getting...
...hmmm...why is that...aside from his prickly personality...what's the freakin difference?

Re: Roger Clemens, Does He Get Your HOF Vote?

Actually, I'm not supporting Clemens, because I don't know allot about him or his habits, since I'm not much of a baseball fan to begin with.
I just thought those stats were interesting.
