the players that took illegal drugs now need to be men and take responsibility imo

Good points, simon. While Selig and baseball shouldn't get a free pass for burying their heads in the sand, neither should the players just because of his actions. They still did plenty to be deemed guilty.

From what I read, its a bit of hearsay based on a cub house trainer etc...so yeah, I stand by it...if you have proof ban the hell out of someone, if you don't, don't make a freakin witch hunt out of it...

I am all for accountability starting with freakin Bud Selig, but I hate a half-butt witch hunt to clean the image of MLB

So because Selig's being let off the hook, everyone should be?

I understand your desire to make the commish pay for his role in all this, but the players aren't innocent in all this. So why let them off the hook too?

See, there is my gripe with this crap...it reeks of witch hunt...you ain't touching the execs that not only let it happened, build up baseball in the 90's on the back of it happening...

But hey, we issue a report, nap a few poeple and everything is golden in MLB?...oh please...

You got evidence, ban someone, if you have hearsay keep it to your freakin self...simple really...

If Selig, at the very least, is not involved, yeah, its' a witch hunt aimed at a few...

I am a black or white guy, I hate shades of grey, do the job right not half-butt...you want to clean baseball?...clean baseball...you want to have a very selective witch hunt...I ain't backing it...

Re: MLB Has Seen, Reviewed Mitchell Report

ill tell you what reeks about this (other then execs getting off scott free)

i heard this morning .. in the time frame we're talking about here there have been over 4200 players in MLB ...... now we get 60-80 names which is less then 2%

that's a load of crap

MLB did a test to determine if they needed the new rule and testing ...... over 100 players failed that test

EXACTLY!...See that's my point too...I mean, it's a selective witch hunt...Why?...who knows...maybe cause if your really nap way more than 2% you would have to call the whole league tainted???...maybe wipe out the 90's???...so lets save face and offer 60-80 names....

Finally, you understand me....you really understand me... ...lol

keep in mind everyone that i know of talked by free will ..... other then Jeremy Giambi

Okay, so why release it then if its a small list...why not have the commish call the player in one by one...and give him a fine, a suspension even a ban on a case by case basis...why make it a media circus?

Re: MLB Has Seen, Reviewed Mitchell Report

Is there any real evidence they used to get names besides having team officials guess on certain questions?

The Commish commenting on the report doesn't mean it will be made public. He'll talk about the findings and how/if the league will deal with it. He won't be naming players.

Re: MLB Has Seen, Reviewed Mitchell Report

The NY Times reports about 50 names of current and former MLBers are listed in the Mitchell report.

Steroid Report Expected to Cite About 50 Players - New York Times

Mitchell will hold a 2PM eastern press conference Thursday to discuss the report.

"What it contains will be officially revealed Thursday, when Mitchell holds a 2 p.m. news conference in Manhattan followed by a separate news conference by Commissioner Bud Selig to discuss the findings."

Re: MLB Has Seen, Reviewed Mitchell Report

From what I understand, you can only make the list if they have tangible evidence against you. That means a failed drug test or a paper trail from purchasing steroids. No sense guessing who is on it, it will be public knowledge by this time tomorrow. since Mitchell is on the Red Sox board, it will be interesting to see if any Bosox were exposed.

Cool Re: MLB Has Seen, Reviewed Mitchell Report

I think everybody is going to get slammed - from Selig, to team managements to the players.

Legend is right - there will be a paper trail at minimum on the guys they name.

Here's some others I feel are going to be on the list:

Mike Piazza & Robinson Cano
