As Barry Bonds prepares for his first appearance in court on perjury and obstruction of justice charges in San Francisco next Friday, he has begun assembling what could be the most powerful legal Dream Team since the O.J. Simpson murder trial. Bonds is considering hiring top-notch San Francisco-based criminal defense attorney John Keker, who served as the special prosecutor of Marine Lt. Col. Oliver North during his Iran-Contra trial in the late 1980s, as his lead lawyer, several sources told the Daily News. Keker would not say if he had been hired by Bonds when contacted by the News. "I just can't comment on that," the former Marine said. "That's really it. That's all I can say. Good luck. Keep going. Take care." But rumors that Keker will represent Bonds have spread through the San Francisco legal community like a California wildfire since Bonds was indicted Nov. 15.
