Re: Favorite Baseball Movie Ever

I love 61*. An HBO movie about Maris' season when he broke the Babe's record.

Long Gone. Another HBO movie about minor league baseball.

They really show what it is like to play to the game on that level.

Re: Favorite Baseball Movie Ever

I didn't see "A League of Their Own" when I voted. I loved the movie just for Jon Lovitz in the beginning.

Favorite quote while he is recruiting the girls while they are milking cows.

Ernie the Scout: Ow! That doesn't hurt them?

Dottie: Naw, they don't seem to mind it.

Ernie: Well it would bruise the hell out of me.

Ernie: We'll pay you $75 a week to play baseball.

Kit: We only make 40 at the dairy.

Ernie: Well then, this would be more, wouldn't it?

The Sandlot for me. Major League is a not so distant second though.

You know what - I love Field of Dreams, the Rookie, the Natural... but there's only one movie I watch every time I see it on. Major League.

The Natural, but there are so many good choices. Pride of the Yankees for instance.

Re: Favorite Baseball Movie Ever

Others would include Fear Strikes Out about Jimmy Piersall, and The Monte Stratton Story starring Jimmy Stewart as the pitcher who lost a leg.

Both Pride of the Yankees and Fear Strikes Out are great older movies.

If any of the youngsters on the boards haven't had the chance to see them, go check 'em out as soon as you can.

Re: Favorite Baseball Movie Ever

Those are all great choices, but Major League just kills me every time I see it. I can't help but watch when I see it on TV! 61* and The Natural are also high on my list!
