Re: Strange Baseball Feats & Records The Yankees scored in every inning the other day in a complete game victory over Toronto at home-obviously they didn't need to play the bottom of the ninth. Back in the early part of the 20th century- One team no-hit another, and the next day the team that had gotten no-hit turned around and no-hit the team that had just no-hit them!

Re: Strange Baseball Feats & Records Here's some quick ones to run past you guys: -Barry Bonds was intentionally walked with bases loaded on May 28th, 1998. -Bill Mueller was the last player to hit two grand slams in one game. He completed this incredible feat on July 29th, 2003 (in back-to-back innings).

Re: Strange Baseball Feats & Records In 1971, Al Kaline ended and won a game by grounding into a double play. While the Red Sox threw the ball around the infield, 2 runners scored and Kaline was credited with no RBI.

Re: Strange Baseball Feats & Records Actually, what the Sox probably didn't count on was a runner from second scoring on the play. Either the 2nd baseman or 1st baseman was out to lunch on that one. Another play I read about is really hilarious. In 1971, in a game between the Tigers and Royals, the late, great Cesar Gutierrez (7 hits in a game prior to total obscurity) tripled off the KC pitcher. The pitcher, believing Gutierrez had failed to touch first base, threw to first on an appeal play....and into the dugout, allowing Gutierrez to trot home. Lovely!

Re: Strange Baseball Feats & Records How about the game where Babe Ruth walked the first batter as a pitcher for the Red Sox, was thrown out of the game for arguing balls and strikes, and the pitcher that came on to replace him, I am thinking his name was Carl Mays, proceeded to see the walked man thrown out trying to steal and then hurled a perfect game!

Re: Strange Baseball Feats & Records This isn't terribly remarkable, but I noticed in yesterday's Red Sox-Yankees box that Boston's Willie Mo Pena played LF-CF-RF in the game. That can't be a frequent occurrence.
