FoxBusiness has a great article looking at the fact that Major League Baseball stadiums are shrinking more and more. That's in terms of seating capacity. Only the Mariners have a new stadium that fits more than their old one.
The Mets and Yankee new parks will each fit thousands fewer than Shea and Yankee Stadium respectively.
The article points out ownership wants this because it will increase demand (higher ticket prices) and they can say their games have been sold out.
It's a business, but it does look like this move will hurt the average fan who isn't a season ticket holder.
I do wonder how this will effect the historic attendance figures in MLB. They're bound to shrink with the ballparks doing the same.
