Re: Commissioner for a Day - MLB Well, I'd fire Bud Selig... Then I'd try to speed up the Bond's investigation or cancel it altogether. I'd move Kansas City back to the minors. I'd cancel the next World Baseball Classic. I'd fix up the All-Star game... I think I would outlaw any two-game sets.

Re: Commissioner for a Day - MLB I would immediately work on contracting the Marlins and the Royals. I would allow Pete Rose to be eligible for the Hall of Fame, along with Shoeless Joe Jackson I would let the chips fall where they may with Bonds, but I would let the government deal with his issues I would require every team to schedule Labor Day douibleheaders I would force the DH onto the National League I would give myself a raise for a job well done

As commisoner I would do the following: 1) Expand baseball into the Orient, with the "Far West Conferences"...teams in Korea, Japan, Taiwan Hawaii...oh and Vancouver for our Canadian friends... 2) I'd hire Pundit to oversee the Barry Bond's lynching...ooops I mean investigation. 3) Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe would be automatically elected to the Hall...who needs freakin writers... if a guy with +4,000 hits and a guy with a lifetime .356 need to be voted on...lets just close it all down. 4) I would do away with the World Series Trophy and get me a new Stanley Cup looking one. 5) Okay...this one has been bugging me...I'd take the freakin Asterick away from Roger Maris! The darn guy had to live with it. 6) All uniforms would go back to those hot flannels of past glory... 7) I would usher in the "performance clause of a contract"....allowing teams to reduced contracts by up to 50% for failure to perform...or raising it by 50% if performance exceeded expectations.

Re: Commissioner for a Day - MLB 1) I would allow the Marlins to move. Where? Who knows, but Miami is not a good place for a MLB team. 2) The DH Rule stays as is and it takes every fiber of my being not to take it away from the AL. 3) Limit the amount of armor a batter is able to wear. I'm not talking about the stupid "rules" they have now, I'm talking seriously limiting it. 4) Give each ML team, one or two free spots on the roster. They would be inactive but at any time before or after a game, they can be added to the roster and switched with an active player. 5) Look into more publicity for the game, teams and players. Especially looking at the younger and great players (Wright, Cabrera, Willis, Weekes, etc.) 6) Remove the silly stipulation from the all star game regarding HFA in the World Series. Simply put, each player on the winning team will receive a $100,000 bonus. Each player on the losing team will receive a $25,000 bonus. Players will play tougher when good 'ol cash is on the line.

Re: Commissioner for a Day - MLB Good contributions, all. I would: 1. Dump the DH rule. You guys want to be Major Leaguers? Then pitchers should have to hit and hitters should have to play the field. 2. I, too, would put Shoeless Joe and Pete Rose in the hall, but their plaques would have to contain the details of their scandals as well as their career highlights. Sorry, guys, you belong in the Hall, but people should never forget why you were left out for so long. 3. Make the World Baseball Classic an annual event, and hold it during a 2-week long All-Star break every season. That way the players still get time to rest and they're in good enough shape to play. And a few "borrowed" ideas: 4. Removing the asterisk from Maris' record is a good one. Hadn't thought of that myself. 5. This one's from Greenie himself - set a minimum payroll, and contract any team that refuses to meet it. 6. Set into motion Gotham's idea that the last place team goes to AAA and the first place AAA team gets into the big leagues to take its place.

Okay, on number two...in stead of a bronze plaque...they get a gray lead one....A symbolic tarnished plaque if you may... |

Re: Commissioner for a Day - MLB Hadn't thought about it much but if you are going to allow them into the Hall of Fame they should at least have to wait until their death before consideration. That way they cannot get any financial gains from their mis-deeds.
