| Kenny Lofton and outside shot at 3,000 hits So, Kenny Lofton will finish with about 140 hits or so this season, an average around .300 and about 2423 career hits. He's 40. What if by chance he's one who is able to stay on long and plays until he's 45? 116 hits a season for 5 more seasons would get him to 3000. 145 hits a season for just 4 more seasons will also get him to 3,000. He's a .299 career hitter, 620 stolen bases with a few really stellar years in there. What if he were to get 3,000 hits? To me that is the most automatic stat there is for enshrinement to the Hall of Fame. He's long been a very good player, but not many really talked of him in Hall of Fame realm. So, do you think he has a legitimate shot at 3,000 hits? If so, is he Hall worthy? My guess is he will fall short, but he has had an average over .300 the last few seasons, so who knows. |
