Unbeaten & Winless MLB Teams

Nobody stays undefeated long in Major League Baseball. The season started Sunday night, and already we're down to just four -- the Detroit Tigers, the Baltimore Orioles, the Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals. The first three are a bit of a surprise, especially the Tigers.

Granted, this is pretty much meaningless and a silly topic to bring up considering how long the season is and how much things can change, but: which team do you think will stay unbeaten the longest? Likewise, there are four winless teams -- Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, K.C. and Philly. Which goes longest before earning a 'W'?

Baltimore will remain "lossless" the longest....

The 2-0 Orioles have the 0-2 Devil Rays today, so the odds are good that they will earn another win. But after that they've got Boston. I like Detroit's chances going into a series with the Rangers. As far as the winless clubs, well, I'm sure hoping the 0-3 Bucs can finally pull one out today against the Reds.

Another trademark lousy Lefty Noob prediction, served up nice and hot with a side of crow. Tampa Bay got a three-hit performance from Mark Hendrickson tonight and beat Baltimore, 2-0. So those two clubs are out of the picture in their respective categories. So who will be next to fall from the ranks of the unbeaten, and who will be next to win their first game of the season?

Mark Hendrickson, a career spare, with the three hitter. Who saw that coming?

Re: Unbeaten & Winless MLB Teams

Speaking of "Who saw that coming?" can you believe the 5-0 Detroit Tigers? Justin Verlander pitches seven shutout innings and gives up just a pair of hits in first career win, and Chris Shelton is hitting .700 with 5 homers, 9 RBI and 7 runs scored. Ex-Pirates manager Jimmy Leyland's really got them playing some top-notch ball over there in Detroit.

And speaking of the Bucs, they've just started against the Reds. Hopefully we can avoid an 0-7 start. The Pennsylvania teams are 0-10 thus far in the season. I wonder which manages a 'W' first...

Cool Re: Unbeaten & Winless MLB Teams

It's only one week. A lot of teams haven't even played a home game yet.

As a Tiger fan i would really like to say thank you to the Pirates GM for letting us have Chris Shelton for a measley 50K, this kid is going to win the triple crown one of these years.

Hi, derek, and welcome to GoTeamsGo. Thanks for joining us in the baseball forums!

Shelton does look to be an incredible talent. We'll see if it keeps up. The way I see it, though, your Tigers owe my Bucs one. So why don't you get them to send over Verlander and we'll call it even.

Re: Unbeaten & Winless MLB Teams

The other night when Verlander pitched i believe i saw a great pitcher in the making, he was getting all 3 of his pitches over the plate and the Rangers hitters were just overwhelmed, we in Detroit will be hanging onto Verlander for many years.
