What's up with the "lets destroy any bit of confindence in Mike Pelfrey"? I just looked at the Mets page and he is starting again tongiht. The kid is clearly not ready and Willie refuses to try something, anything else besides tearing this kid apart. Julio Franco is a mess. The one thing I know, is that you do not pinch hit him against any power pitchers. He has to start his swing in 1990 to make contact on anything over 90mph. And finally, how do you pinch run with John Maine, arguably the your best pitcher. Imagine if he went down with an injury on that play? I am a Met fan with legitamite points that need to be pointed out.

Pelfrey isn't as advertised, but at some point these pitchers need to produce. Franco is a joke, I agree, and as for Maine running, it speaks to a lack of speed on the bench, something that could be fixed if Franco was sent to the retirement home. First John franco and now Julio-it must be a Mets thing.

The John Maine pinch run thing was not due to a lack of speed, it was due to a lack of bodies on the bench at the time. I can't recall the exact situation but they could not pinch run with the back-up catcher so they decided to use the previous nights pitcher.

As for Franco, he shouldn't have a roster spot, I agree. Just make him a coach.

Pelfrey is slowly developing. I have no beef with giving the kid another start in the majors.
