Rumblings and Grumblings

Here is the Jayson Stark article on the start of the season.

ESPN.com - MLB - Stark: Rumblings and Grumblings

I agree that Giants will stay really bad because of age on that team, it will only get worse, but the Phillies should not be there. That team has too many marqee players to mess up right now, thats why I think they will get out of that hole they are in. But the Nationals, well besides the four Nats Players they named, all I can say is, they are screwed...

What do you think of all this?

Re: Rumblings and Grumblings

Well, I have to agree with Stark about the Phillies because I've been saying it all year. I may look like an idiot at the end of the year, but even coming into the season, I just didn't see what all the hype was about. Their bullpen, as he correctly points out, is horrendous and he hitting is inconsistant. I really don't see them challenging for the NL East this year.

Re: Rumblings and Grumblings

Even if their bullpen is mediocore, they should give us atleast a pennant race, but it looks like their playing of the Colorado Rockies in the past, a bunch of prospects that is new to the game, meaning poor decisions. Im just very dissapointed of what the Phillies is giving me right now.

Re: Rumblings and Grumblings

Ugly start equals ugly finish? Not quite.

Look at what the Marlins did last year with all those rookies. They had a terrible first half. In the second half, they were the hottest team in baseball. Unfortunately, they just didn't have the gas for the final wildcard push. But an amazing turnaround nonetheless.

I don't see the Nat's as very capable (no depth), and I've always said the Giants will suck so long as Bonds is destorying that clubhouse.

It's much too early to pass judgment on the Filthies. I mean Phillies. There is just too much offensive depth to ignore, and the bullpen will have plenty of time to work itself out. They will be in the hunt, as usual.

The Phillies will get better, They are too balanced offensively to not. it will be a good pennant race more than people think.

Re: Rumblings and Grumblings

CBS Sportsline (?) predicted them to end first in their division.

Mets vs. Phillies/Atlanta <- Ultimate Rivalry.

Re: Rumblings and Grumblings

I said it then and I will say it again - I have no clue what CBS was thinking when they made the Phillies their pick.

I mean, I do know cause the Mets were sucking it up in Spring Training but yikes! Anyone see that game last night? I really agree with Stark here...the Mets and Braves are for real. No way the Phillies will keep up

Re: Rumblings and Grumblings

I recently read an article on ESPN talking about possible relocation of TB rays or Florida Marlins to Orlando. The city lost a bid to Tampa and Miami in the past, now the teams in thoses cities are not doing well in attendance. The TB rays have an ugly ballpark, they recently played a series in Orlando Wide world of sports Disney. The Marlin are not getting there new stadium. Orlando has the money and support from fans and tourist to support the Orlando Marlins. Spring training is a big hit in central florida, attendance is high.

Does anyone know if there is talk about relocation or expansion in baseball?
