| Actually, the part about Gullickson makes sense because the Reds traded Gullickson to the Yankees for Dennis Rasmussen (Piniella was managing the Yankees back then and hated Rasmussen)..And Rose probably felt that Rasmussen was a pitcher he could win a bet with. |

I still like the man...If he had suffered from a different kind of addiction, he would be on the road to redemption not perdition... Maybe he and Joe Jackson can make it to the "Alternate Hall of Fame"...though you know...we could put in there Sosa and Brett's cork bats, Gaylord Perry and his vaseline ball, etc... |

Rose, himself, I could care less about. He should be yesterday's news. Instead, he's like a bad burrito... he just keeps coming back up on you.

| Re: Rose lying again I have been around gamblers and the gambling business my entire adult life. Anyone that thinks Rose did not bet on and against his own team is fooling themself. Degenerate gamblers have no scruples when it comes to making a bet. If there was a way for him to have an edge, he took it, even if it meant trying to throw a game.

| Re: Rose lying again Rose dosen't deserve to be in the HOF. I don't care how good his statistics are, he bet on baseball, and it was against the rules, and put a bad rep on MLB, and baseball in general. If Rose would shut his mouth for once, he may have a shot, but he shouldn't be in the HOF, and he shouldn't be allowed in MLB.

| Re: Rose lying again Well yeah, like George Brett and the pinetar. But I'm talking about rules that are taken more seriously like betting on baseball. That is very uncalled for and still gives MLB a bad rep to this day. Rose had great statistics, but he did nothing for the good of MLB. |

now see, that's not true...he played the game with all the gusto of a little leaguer on the first day of spring...in a lot of ways, he was good for the game... and under rules that are "taken more seriously"...does that include HOF Gaylord Perry doctoring the ball a whole career?...perhaps Ty Cobb being a racist throughout his career?...the steriod stacked stats of the mid 80's forward?...Mantle hitting dingers dead drunk?... Come on now...yes, the man betted on the game...sure he broke the rules...and if voters don't want to put him in, that's their business...but lets not jump on the "hate wagon" cause its fashionable... |
