Cool Steinbrenner has Dimentia?

Ken Davidoff of Newsday doesn't come out and say it, but it's pretty obvious isn't it?

Quote:
In truth, team officials have been strategizing how to keep The Boss as invisible as possible....

He is the Yankees' patriarch, still, yet at 76 his health is in obvious decline, widely believed to be the result of something more serious than mere aging. The tales of Steinbrenner's fluctuations in memory and emotions are too numerous to wave off; some have occurred in the presence of the media.

His hours at the Legends Field office have become increasingly erratic. Sometimes he'll leave at 9 p.m.; he recently came to work on a Saturday, when no one else was there.

He no longer drives himself, instead relying on longtime Yankees employee John Sibayan to chauffeur him everywhere.

No doubt, Steinbrenner hasn't completely checked out; as one Tampa insider put it, the owner has "good days and bad days."

Re: Steinbrenner has Dimentia?

George's bad days are when he listens to the fraction of team ownership that's in Tampa...and buys used up pitchers etc...that's not Dimentia, that's too many cooks spoiling the soup...

Who even knows if he still has a hand on the day-to-day decision making involving the team. His son-in-law has an ever increasing role and Cashman has as much power now than he's ever had in the past.

Re: Steinbrenner has Dimentia?

He may be backing off a little, but I bet nothing gets without his permission. I don't care what the reports say. If the reports are true, I bet they wait on one of his good days before a decision is made. He is pretty intimidating.

Fluctuations of emotions ???? That has always been the way it currently is.

Re: Steinbrenner has Dimentia?

None of his decisions are made without consulting groups of people, you can bet on that. Just ask Bill Madden, the Daily News reporter who was probably correct when he reported Steinbrenner was about to, or did in fact fire Joe Torre last year. But Steinbrenner was likely talked out of it.

Cool Re: Steinbrenner has Dimentia?

But that's the thing about Dimentia. It doesn't happen all in one day. It's a process. At the beginning, it's intermittent and just progressively gets worse. I just hope the Press leaves him alone.

Re: Steinbrenner has Dimentia?

I'm sure the Press will definitely tackle this issue during stories, and utilize this to ridicule and criticize the Yankees organization.

But, why must we capitalize "Press"? They aren't that important or anything. They only shape the world of sports and serve as the public.

You have a good point there, ThePundit.

Re: Steinbrenner has Dimentia?

Hasn't Steinbrenner always had those symptoms? What's new?
