| Re: 2007 MLB Free Agency Big Winners: Baltimore Orioles: The O's totally re-established their bullpen by bringing in LHP Jamie Walker, RHP Danys Baez, RHP Chad Bradford, and RHP Scott Williamson. Jaret Wright was added to the starting rotation (to go along side Bedard, Benson, and Cabrera), while UT Freddie Bynum, C Paul Bako, OF Jay Payton, and OF Adam Stern were brought in to fill some defensive and offensive holes. I highly doubt the Orioles will contend with the Yankees or Sox in 2007, but at least they're on the right track. Chicago Cubs: The Cubs started things off right with the re-signing of Aramis Ramirez and for an encore, brought in Alfonso Soriano. Mark DeRosa and Daryle Ward also joined the club to provide more offense and defense to last year's bumbling team. As for the rotation, Ted Lily and Jason Marquis were added along side of Zambrano, Wood, and Prior. Neal Cotts, a lefty reliever, was signed for the 'pen. Big Loser Atlanta Braves: For a team that won 14 consecutive division titles, the Braves have done nothing to counter-act the surging Mets and Phillies. During the offseason the Braves have signed just two players- Rafael Soriano and Tanyon Sturtze. Real impact players there... I suppose Atlanta has just given in to the fact that they will not win their division, and has done nothing to keep some of the good players they had on their team. Marcus Giles, John Thomson, Horacio Ramirez, Todd Pratt, Brian Jordan, Chris Reitsma, Daryle Ward, and Danys Baez all left the Braves during the winter months. As bad as Atlanta's rotation was, it has only gotten worse. As bad as Atlanta's pen was, it has only gotten worse. As bad as Atlanta's season was, it will only be worse.
