| Re: That Anti-Yankee Bias ok, there is no bigger fan of the Red Sox then me, and i do believe that Ortiz (or any DH) can win an MVP, just not this year by the end of the year, for some writers Ortiz had 4 strikes against him he's 95% or more DH the Sox didnt make the play-offs he shot his mouth off at the end he was injured near the end any one or maybe even 2 of those and he could still have a chance to win, add them all up and there is no way but i also agree with Kieth Olbermen on ESPN Radio, its so hard for writers to vote for MVP........they hardly see people that dont play for their team they can do research and check out players but out of 162 games how many did they see of the top 5 contenders ? there must be a better way

| Re: That Anti-Yankee Bias Maybe they could give the award away based on math? Come up with some MVP formula? Like win shares or runs prevented+/- runs driven in? That way, if a DH provided a ton of offense, he could eliminate the lack of defensive points, and win the award. But that would take all the suspense away... |

| Re: That Anti-Yankee Bias Managers should vote. They are guaranteed to see Ortiz, Jeter, et. al. at least a couple of times each year, which is more than you can say for some of the writers who cast ballots. The only rule should be that you can't vote for your own guy.

| Re: That Anti-Yankee Bias I think the managers would vote for players on their team. Unless they make a rule where you aren't allowed to vote for athletes in your organization. |
