Soriano to Cubs!!!!!!!!!!

ESPN.com - MLB - Report: Cubs agree to 8-year, $136M deal with Soriano
Who called it!
Looks like the Cubbies gave up the big money! Congrats to the deserving Soriano! Good move? I think so!

Re: Soriano to Cubs!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know to me Soriano strikes out WAY too much but I guess the Yankees were better off keeping him than trading for A-Rod. Although both stink in the postseason, I remember Soriano batting 8th in the 2003 ALCS just like A-Rod batted 8th about a month ago.

Re: Soriano to Cubs!!!!!!!!!!

Oooh... the Cubs will have Soriano, Ramirez, and Lee in the heart of their lineup. They may become a threat at last.

Re: Soriano to Cubs!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, he really cashed in. Their offense should be grand but they still need pitching to do well.

Soriano delivered some clutch hits in the postseason, something A-Rod cant say as well as others. Anyway, yea he strikes out a lot. He attones for that by having the highest number of walks so far in his career (67), a .351 OBP last year and of course the threat of 40 HR and 40 SB. This is a great move to put some giddy up in the Cubbies offense

Re: Soriano to Cubs!!!!!!!!!!

This is a definite upgrade for the Cubs' organization.

Question:Will Soriano play 2B or LF?

Re: Soriano to Cubs!!!!!!!!!!

Now all the cubs need is some solid pitching.

Soriano is just what their offense needs. He makes it happen with his power and then he gets on with a single and steals a couple bases. Center field? This guy needs to pick a position already and stay there.

Re: Soriano to Cubs!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I guess this was a great deal. Do you guys think Soriano matured when he was traded from the Yankees or do you think it's just natural talent that he's got and no change in Alfonso Soriano?

Re: Soriano to Cubs!!!!!!!!!!

Having followed Soriano since his days on the Norwich Navigators, I can attest to the fact that Sori has certainly matured. This guy wants to win and he wants to perform. However, this maturity process did not start immediately after his departure from the Bronx. Texas did nothing in this aspect, the influence of Frank Robinson has changed him. He came in still thinking he was a hot shot and that he would force Vidro to be displaced from 2nd. Through force, Soriano finally complied. And he certainly responded. He made 11 errors, expected from someone who never played the outfield in the bigs, but most importantly 22 assists leading the league. He embraced his role and emerged an elite player in the league, with offensive capabilities up there with the best. With his heart truly focused on baseball, this guy is going to make a serious impact for the Cubbies next year
