Instant Replay?

Should baseball be like Football and allow big plays to be challenged? I hope they dont because then every single play could be challenged in a game where 1 win or loss probably wont make a difference.

Re: Instant Replay?

In baseball, big plays are allowed to be challenged.

If they weren't, what would Lou Pinella be good for?

Re: Instant Replay?

I think they should allow it, but with conditions. Only let the managers contest 1 call every game. It can only be for where the ball lands,or out calls on bases.

Re: Instant Replay?

I'd rather not have it, but if it's a must, only review scoring plays - home runs near the foul pole, plays at the plate, and so on. None of this challenge stuff, either, just a guy in a booth reviewing the play and buzzing the ump before the next at-bat.

Re: Instant Replay?

No, instant replay like the NFL should not be instituted in MLB. Games already are over 3 hours on average, with replay, they'd be extra long.

I know the team officials voted to hear the case for specific cases for instant replay but I doubt anything serious comes of it anytime soon. The only kind of replay I could see in baseball is for home runs near foul polls and balls near the chalk lines, over the first/third bags. And they would have to be initiated by either the chief umpire or a replay official in the scoring booth.

Re: Instant Replay?

No replays at all, none. How many times have you seen a ball go over the bases down the line and still not be able to tell if it was fair or foul? Once it is allowed, it will eventually be expanded to the point where you will not recognize the game.

Re: Instant Replay?

No instant replays... That'd take all the fun out of the game! No more hating the umpire, no more blaming a bad call for your team's loss, no more screaming at your television, etc, etc....

Very true. If they do it i would like it to only be on scoring plays everything else should be up to the umps judgement and even on scoring plays the managers can only contest 1 call a game.

P.S. I believe that games are actually down under the 3 hour mark due to the new rules
