Webb got 15 first place votes, Trevor Hoffman 12. I can't argue with Webb at all. I'm surprised Hoffman did that well. What does everybody else think?

Let's face it guys, Webb won the Cy Young because somebody had to! He may be the worst pitcher ever to be thusly honored, for sure the worst starter to garner the award. Lifetime he is 47-45, and that's after going 16-8 this year. At one point he was 8-0, so this is the rare case of someone winning this honor for what he did in the first half of the season. I thought Carlos Zambrano deserved more consideration than what he got, but he had a terrible start where he gave up a ton of runs before leaving injured and that seems to have cost him alot of votes in the long run. Hoffman came in a close second with his 46 saves and 2.14 ERA. Does anyone realize that if he had won, he would have had to be the only pitcher to win the CY Young without having won a single game all year?!

As much as I hate Hoffman, if I had a vote it would have gone to him

Consider the point that one of them is a starter and the other is a closer.

Oswalt would have had my vote. Webb had 1 more win but Oswalt had a better ERA

Oswalt is his equal...the Astros needed to get him a few more wins...I remember Ryan going 8-16 in 1987 when he lead the league in ERA with 2.76...(I think he lead in K's as well)...his team caused him the Cy Young...

See I dont get the bias against closers! There have been some years I thought Mo should have had considerably more stature in the race....The NL starting pitching crop this year wasnt really spectacular, Hoffman had a great year at closer...I would still have given it to the old man

Yeah I thought I was alone in this but I would have voted for Hoffman as well.
