"Parity"...the famous word people bring up when discussing the NFL. How one team can go from being among the worst one year and playing for the Super Bowl the next. However, it appears MLB has finally reached its zenith and has acquired said parity.
This
article from MLB.com just made me think about it. Since the turn of the century, we've had different World Series champions each year. In 2000, the New York Yankees won their last title. In 2001, the dynasty officially ended with the Diamondbacks beating Mariano Rivera. In 2002, the Angels of Anaheim. 2003 saw the Florida Marlins win their second title in their franchise's history. And the following two years saw two gigantic win-less streaks end as Boston and Chicago (White Sox) won. This year, the Cardinals win it.
That's seven different championship teams in seven years.
Some people love to knock baseball and the money structure and how they perceive some teams unable to compete. Now whenever you encounter that argument, you can simply point to the facts and set them straight.
