Rogers hasn't allowed a run in 23 innings. Not bad for an old guy. He pitched a great game in Detroit's 3-1 win. He allowed two hits in eight innings of work and walked three.

But did he cheat to get these results. Wouldn't surprise me if he did. What was that dk brown stuff inside his palm?

This guy cheated it is obvious...Sports Center showed every game hes pitched this postseason only to reveal the same brown stuff on the same spot on his hand. Pine tar maybe? idk but whatever it is its there to get a better grip on the ball then someone could without it. This is a disgrace to baseball

Interesting but why wouldn't La Russa pressure the Umps to inspect what it was instead of simply telling him to remove it (which according to Rogers, they didn't do).

Fishy is what this smells.

Ok so what happen after the first inning , Did he just become at that moment a good pitcher ? Come on guys , The guy pitched a good game .
I can see this kind stuff maybe be done in the regular season but in the playoffs while everyone is watching would be nuts to even try something like that

Guys did he have this dark brown spot in his other games? If he did, it probably was an illegal substance.

What it almost certainly is is something to put the notion in the opponents' minds that he is using some sort of potion to gain an unfair advantage. The opponent players lose their focus to some extent. Then, if the substance were actually to be checked, it would turn out to be tobacco juice, liquid shoe polish, or some other innocuous substance that would provide no real edge at all.

According to video footage, Rogers had this "spot" on his pitching hand in the ALDS, ALCS and now the World Series.

Smells like he was cheating and it caught up to him in Game 2. However, nobody checked his hat, or glove. Rogers cleaned his hand before coming out for the second inning and then denied the Umps ever talked about it with him.

If he cheated a job well done for getting away with it. Umpires should be more aware of these things and who are we to question what it was after checking hundreds of tapes. Maybe the ump did check his hat etc... but what good is it to speculate now. He has washed it off his hands and so that is the end of it because we all know that baseball is less likely to replay a game than someone is to pitch two perfect games in a row.

Of course it is a disgrace to baseball but then go ahead and wipe a couple of the record books out because pitchers have been using a "spit" ball for a long time.

We will get our chance to find out if the series goes to game 6 or 7.
