Re: Way to go Cardinals

Nothing expected has happened yet in this postseason:

The Yankees should have beaten the Tigers.
The Twins should have beaten the A's.
The Padres should have beaten the Cardinals.
The Mets should have beaten the Cardinals.

So, the way things are, I can't say I'm that surprised by tonight's St. Louis win. Huge game for the Cards, great performance by Reyes, Pujols, and Rolen.

Hey MVB , I agree with yah , Though if the Mets would of had their 2 starters ? I would almost believe they would of won that series but That's a whole different ball game

Re: Way to go Cardinals

But Snooker, it wasn't the pitching (well, safe for the bullpen in game 2) that let the Mets down. The offense went down the drain in key spots and couldn't pick up hits. But enough of that lol...

The Cardinals surprised the heck outta me though with their offense burst in Game 1.

No I know but when you had your number 1 and 2 starters out ? It changes the attitude of the whole ball team but thats another story , Now I hope the world series goes 7

Re: Way to go Cardinals

Not sure what that last one has to do with the World series but Ok

Losing your 1 and 3 guys puts a lot of pressure on the entire team both mentally and physically i.e. Short rest and increased pressure on the offense to have a good game

The cardinals win certainly makes things interesting i was ready to write off the cards but now i have to re consider. If they can win with a rookie on the the mound they have a shot.

Re: Way to go Cardinals

I gotta give it to Pujols man, he’s got it all, the MVP, the skills and a great family yet he still stays so humble. No huge house or fancy cars for this dude, just a modest crib in the burbs of KC, check it out at... (link removed)

Re: Way to go Cardinals

I don't know how he does it.

The Cardinals better get a grasp on the World Series before the Tigers take it away!

Not seen your 4-5 legit posts yet so no link-y to your (cough) favorite (cough) website. Consider it a quota to help you meet quota

Re: Way to go Cardinals

I was just tuned in to MLB's World Series webcast. The big news is that it is raining hard in St. Louis now, and the forecast for the next two days is for more of the same. It could be quite awhile before we see any more baseball being played in this series. It's not surprising, though. When MLB tries to play its biggest event in late October in the upper midwest, they should consider themselves lucky if they get playable conditions. And, if they were lucky before, their luck is apparently running out now.

It's looking a little better now, though!

I'm with those who doubted the Cards going into this WS, but I'm being pleasantly surprised. I've been rooting for the Tigers since mid-season, and I still am. But I love to see a hard-fought and well-played World Series, so this one is turning into a really interesting battle.

Nothing better than what's going on in Game 4 tonight -- which I expected to be postponed (almost indefinitely, considering the rain just keeps comin'), but I'm really happy they started it late.

So now it's the top of the 8th, and the game is tied 4-4. THIS is my kinda baseball! Sure brings back memories from 1968, and that one was a doozie with a storybook ending!

It's difficult when I want to cheer for BOTH teams, but hey, that's not such a bad way to feel, either.

I hope it goes to seven games ... we all get more bang for our buck that way and usually some great baseball to watch. Besides, maybe that would still the tongues of those who say this year's WS isn't worth watching because of the teams that made it there. An argument, btw, which baffles me, since they ARE the teams that got there, so by definition they should be interesting to watch!

And I'm one of those who is so sick of a great sport being dominated (at least in the media) by the damn Yankees (soft jibe intended), it is particularly gratifying to see them once again out of it early in the playoffs and quickly becoming a fading memory to most of us out here in heartland America who don't think the entire world exists on the left and right coasts of the nation.

If this Series goes to seven games, I suspect the bandwagon riders will increase and the viewership will grow as everyone realizes this is indeed a good matchup worth watching. I never put it past the Cards and La Russa to come up with ways to win games, so I shouldn't be shocked at their showing so far.

All in all, a classy World Series so far, and most enjoyable!

GO TEAMS!
